1.2 Overview of This Book

In this book, we take a deep dive into product safety issues and the product recalls

that can result from them. We focus, in particular, on supply chain product quality

issues, although we consider also other sources of product hazards. Similarly, we

focus on many examples from China, although we consider some leading examples

also from other parts of the world.

is book is rst and foremost a compilation of research ndings from a sig-

nicant global research project on product safety and recalls headed by Professor

Xiande Zhao. It is unique in that it examines these issues from a wide variety of per-
