The big picture
Daniel Goleman, best known for his work on emotional intelligence (see Chapter 19), popularised the idea of six distinct leadership styles which cover the whole spectrum of leadership. Each of us uses the styles in different proportions and the more flexible we can be in applying the most appropriate combination of styles in each situation, the more effective our leadership will be.
