I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
COPYING THE RIGHT FILES
After you have restored the production environment to the development environment, it's time to upgrade the installation. To ensure that you are copying all the necessary files, reference the following file list:
- /app_data
- /app_browsers
- /app_code
- /bin
- /config *
- /data
- /install
- /umbraco
- /umbraco_client
- web.config *
- default.aspx
The asterisk (*) items in the previous list indicates that you need to remember to copy any configuration file updates as well.
After you have finished copying and overwriting all the files, you can simply run your development installation by calling its URL; Umbraco automatically launches the installer and walks you through the upgrade process.
