As with any manufacturer, companies such as Apple are successful because of their ability to anticipate customer needs and create a positive end-user experience. Likewise, to implement a successful business analytics solution, your team must always keep the focus on the end-user experience. How the end user will interact with the solution, gain access to it, and use it are key factors of success. To this end, convenience and ease of use are central to the value proposition of a new analytics solution implementation. As a result, the feedback gathered from the experience of end users and consumers of these systems must be constantly reviewed and the solution refined. Also, for an analytics culture to develop, end users must be involved at the beginning of the analytics project. People’s need to feel part of the team and the decision-making process is vital to the success of the analytics endeavor. Many projects have failed due to the rejection of the solution from the end users. End user buy-in can make or break the project and ultimately affect the overall success of the organization in its quest to become a full-fledged analytical competitor.
