  1. Discuss at least four basic types of personnel tests.

Testing is popular at work. For example, Outback Steakhouse wants employees who are social, meticulous, sympathetic, and adaptable. It uses a personality assessment test as part of its preemployment process. Applicants take the test, and the company then compares the results to the profile for Outback Steakhouse employees. Two managers interview those who score high. 18

As at Outback, employers today are much more focused on hiring quality employees. About 80% of the biggest U.S. employers now use testing. 19 Take the test in Figure 6.3 to see how prone you might be to on-the-job accidents.
