It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
2.3. Performance Characterization
After the system and application are installed, and users begin putting a real workload on the system, performance characterization is done, first with baseline measurements and later with historical measurements. The performance professional keeps monitoring system performance and checks it against the performance criteria that were set before the system was installed.
Some organizations use Service Level Agreements to guarantee a certain level of performance to the user organizations.
