14.5. HPjmeter
The HPjmeter tool is a 100% Java tool developed by HP to help analyze profile information generated by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). It works on HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows platforms and uses a graphical user interface to view and organize the profile information. Since HPjmeter is a post-processing tool, a Java profiling option is needed to collect a profile for HPjmeter to process. HP's Java supports the following profiling options: -Xeprof option for HP's Hotspot VM versions 1.2.2.05 or later, -Xrunhprof with Java 1.2.1 (Classic JVM) or Java 1.3.x or 1.4.x, -prof option for Java 1.1.x, and finally -eprof for Java 1.1, release 1.1.8 or later.
