There are many different performance tools available for Unix systems in general and for HP-UX in particular. This chapter presents a broad overview of system performance tools by type. These tools provide information on the system's utilization of the major resources (CPU, memory, I/O, etc.), which is called global utilization. They also provide information on each process's utilization of these same system resources, and this is called per-process utilization. Certain tools provide additional capabilities as described in each section.
