It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Defining custom property components
Ideally, you should implement every single thing that can change on your visualization as a setting for your users and developers. This permits reusability of your work and catering for multiple use cases, which means a higher return and value-add for your development work.
While the reusable Qlik property provides you with a head start, building a user-friendly and comprehensive property panel can be just as valuable as the extension itself. The following example is taken from the Vizlib Table property panel to illustrate the value-add of custom property components:
