When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
FreeBSD Mascot
A quick word on the FreeBSD mascot is probably in order here because it is often a source of confusion for new users. Sometimes, people even get offended at the FreeBSD mascot. Well, the FreeBSD mascot is not a reference to a satanic cult or anything like that. It is a joking reference to background processes in UNIX systems that handle various tasks. These background processes are called “daemons,” which is pronounced “demons”. Daemons are actually wonderfully helpful things. If you've ever sent an email or visited a Web page, you have used the services of a daemon without even knowing it. Windows 2000 also has daemons. They just aren't called that. Microsoft calls them “services” instead.
