I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Introduction to Packages
Jordan Hubbard, one of the core developers of FreeBSD, is responsible for most of the initial work on the package system. FreeBSD's system has been adopted by NetBSD and other platforms, and refined over the years with the best of the independent development efforts being rolled back into FreeBSD.
By its simplest definition, a package system is a way of bundling up software (including config files, shared libraries, and documentation) and extracting it again onto another machine, in which its configuration will be valid enough that the software can run properly on the new machine.
