When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Kernel, Device, and Communications Mode Configuration
The default kernel has support for the parallel device built into it, so unless you have built a custom kernel and removed support for the parallel port, you shouldn't have any problems. The easiest way to check for parallel support in the kernel is by checking the kernel's dmesg output. The command dmesg | grep lpt0 will check to make sure that the first parallel device (which would be lpt1 in DOS. FreeBSD devices almost always start at 0) is supported in the kernel. If FreeBSD responds with something similar to the following:
lpt0: <Printer> on ppbus0 lpt0: Interrupt-driven port
Then the printer has support for the parallel port. If FreeBSD responds with nothing, the kernel does not have ...
