When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Future Samba Development
At the time of this writing, the most recent version of Samba in the ports is 2.0.9; Samba 2.2.0, the next major revision, has only just been released, and it or a later version will probably be the official version in /usr/ports/net/samba by the time you read this.
Version 2.2.0 incorporates many enhancements to Windows networking, enabling features that are new in Windows 2000 and increasing the level of interoperability between Windows and UNIX file servers. Some of the new features are as follows:
Automatic downloading of Windows NT/2000 printer drivers from the Samba server, if they are not present on the client machine
Unification of Windows NT/2000 and UNIX Access Control Lists (ACLs), and remote manageability of ...
