When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Testing the X-Windows Setup
Once you have finished with xf86config, and/or hand-edited the XF86Config file and saved your changes, you are ready to test the X-Server.
Type startx at the command line to start the X-Windows system. If all goes well, your screen will go blank for a moment, and you should soon see a checkered background with a small x in the middle. The x is the mouse pointer. After a few more seconds, the window manager should come up, and you should be able to move the mouse around on the screen.
If you can't move the mouse, or if X-Windows seems to start, but then quits with an error message, double-check your XF86Config file to make sure that you have everything configured properly.
