I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
User PPP
If, for whatever reason, you can't or don't want to use kernel PPP, FreeBSD also provides user PPP. User PPP does not run as a daemon, and does not require PPP support to be compiled into the kernel. It does, however, require a tunnel device to be compiled into the kernel because this is what it runs PPP through.
The first thing to do when setting up user PPP is to make sure that there is a tunnel device available (there should be unless you have built a custom kernel and removed it). If you have built a custom kernel, check your kernel configuration file in /sys/i386/conf for the line pseudo-device tun 1. If this line exists, your kernel is configured to use a tunnel device.
