I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring X-Windows with the xf86config Script
If for whatever reason, you cannot use or do not want to use the graphical configuration tool described in Chapter 2, “Installing FreeBSD,” there is an older shell script-based configuration tool available in X-Windows. This tool will ask you a series of questions and configure X-Windows based on the answers you provide.
Caution
Improper use of this tool when configuring video settings could actually cause physical damage to your hardware. Although most monitors have built-in protection circuits these days, and will shut themselves down if you try to drive them with a refresh rate higher than they support, some monitors will try to display the screen at the given refresh rate, even if the monitor's ...
