As you can see, the differences between Cycles and Blender Render are quite clear, both in terms of the workflow to build the materials and the results. Now you know how to create basic materials using textures in both render engines, which should serve as a starting point for you. Also, you can now see that Cycles materials can be a lot more powerful using nodes, a subject that you’ll learn more about in Chapter 14, Lighting, Compositing, and Rendering. Jim already looks quite similar to the character we initially designed.
