Applying Materials

The process for applying materials follows these steps:

1. Select an object.

2. Go to the Materials tab in the Properties Editor.

3. Select a material from the list or create a new one; it will be applied to the active object.

4. Adjust the material to achieve the result you want. While you’re adjusting the material, it’s useful to add some basic lighting and make some test renders to see how the materials are behaving. Using the Rendered display mode in the 3D View is a great help at this point.

Tip

If you want to apply the material to more than one object at a time, just select all the objects, apply a material as described in the steps, and it will be applied to the active object (the one that you selected last). Then, ...
