Active Directory Domain Service log files
Apart from events, Active Directory Domain Service and related services have other system log files that record data about service install/uninstall, performance, service errors/failures, and so on. These log files can be used for audit, troubleshooting, or debugging purposes.
The default location for these log files is %SystemRoot%\Debug:
- DCPromo.log: This log file is created during the Active Directory promotion process. It will also record events during the demotion process. This log will contain events such as:
- Active Directory Domain Service configuration settings
- Information about schema preparation
- Information about directory partition creation/modifications
- Information about data replication ...
