Setting up a new child domain

In a domain tree, domains maintain a contiguous namespace. The domains in a domain tree have a parent domain and all other domains under it are called child domains. As children use their parents' surname, child domains also use the name from their parent domain. For example, if the parent domain is rebeladmin.com, the child domains can look like europe.rebeladmin.com or asia.rebeladmin.com. Child domains help organizations to structure the resources and provide flexible IT management.

Before we start the installation, let's look into a few prerequisites, which are as follows:

  • Information: In order to set up a child domain, we need to gather the following information:
    • FQDN for the child domain
    • Forest name
