The Web Application Proxy

We use proxy servers to access the internet, because it does the required communication with the internet on behalf of the internal users and protects them from external threats. Web application proxy allows to publish web applications (including AD FS) to public without exposing the backend of it. This role is no longer a part of AD FS, and it comes as a part of remote access role. AD FS does not require Web Application Proxy to work, but it is recommended to use if users log in from external networks.
