The ntds.dit file

This is the actual Active Directory database file. This database mainly contains three tables. The schema table includes data regarding the object classes, attributes, and the relationship between those. The link table includes the data about values referring to another object. Group membership details are a good example of this. The data table includes all the data about users, groups, and any other data integrated with Active Directory. In the table, rows represent the object and columns represent the attributes.
