Canonical name (CNAME) records are aliases for FQDN. They work like nicknames. For example, I have an A record setup for blog.rebeladmin.com; there is a blog running under it. Some time ago, I used the my.rebeladmin.com URL and changed it to a new one. If users still use my.rebeladmin.com, I need them to still see my blog at blog.rebeladmin.com. To do that, I can create CNAME records.
