The following checklist can be used for fresh AD DS installation for an additional domain controller:
- Prepare physical/virtual resources for the domain controller
- Install Windows Server 2016 Standard/Datacenter
- Patch servers with latest Windows updates
- Assign dedicated IP address to the domain controller
- Add the domain controller to the existing Active Directory domain as a domain member
- Find information about existing domain sites and the initial replication method
- Log into the server with a privileged account (Schema Admin, Enterprise Admin)
