Maintaining standards

I assume most of you have heard about International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. It allows organizations to run their operations as per industry standards. In return, it will provide a certification to prove the organization's commitment. Even though organizations pass the ISO certification, the relevant authority will perform a yearly evaluation to make sure they maintain the standards. Most companies follow these standards throughout the year, but for some, it comes to mind only when the evaluation is due.
