Public Folders

First, the bad news: Beginning with Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft is working to deemphasize the use of public folders in favor of a SharePoint-based solution. In fact, in the initial release of Exchange Server 2007’s Outlook Web Access, public folders are not supported at all. That said, when used with the full Outlook client, public folders are alive and well. Further, if you’ve been using Exchange for any length of time, you probably have quite a bit of information in public folders that needs to be maintained even during the coexistence phase of your Exchange Server 2007 migration.
