Managing Anti-Spam Features

The Edge Transport server is the foundation on which the messaging protection features of Exchange Server 2007 rest. Most e-mail administrators look forward to the day when spam no longer exists, but until that utopia arrives, Exchange Server 2007 provides a number of ways that an administrator can combat spam. It should be noted that although the examples in this chapter use the Edge Transport server, most of these examples also work on a Hub Transport server and accomplish the same goals. Microsoft recommends, but does not require, that you use an Edge Transport server in order to maintain the highest level of security in the organization.
