Mail contacts are objects that serve as pointers to resources outside an Exchange organization. You can think of a contact as a pointer that contains an address for that outside resource and rules for handling the transmission of messages. Whenever a user sends a message to a mail contact, Exchange Server forwards the message to the appropriate foreign messaging system. Contacts have many of the same attributes as mailboxes and can be viewed in the Global Address List.
To create a new mail contact, follow these steps:
In the console tree of Exchange Management Console, expand the Recipient Configuration node and then click the Mail Contact subnode.
In the Action pane, click New Mail Contact.
