Mailbox Resources

Resource mailboxes are mailboxes that are not designed to receive messages, but instead to represent resources in an organization that users can schedule—resources like conference rooms, projectors, or company cars. Users can include resource mailboxes in meeting requests the same way they would include any mailbox. This provides users with a simple way to schedule the use of resources in your organization.

Exchange Server 2007 supports two types of resource mailboxes:

  • Room Mailbox. This type of resource mailbox is assigned to a meeting location, such as a meeting room or auditorium.

  • Equipment Mailbox. This type of resource mailbox is assigned to a resource that does not have a location.
