Seeing If You Have Text Messages

When a text message comes in, the sender’s name and the first line of their text message appear right at the top of your screen for a few seconds, as shown above left (of course, if you don’t have their name in your contacts list, you’ll only see their phone number and not their name). If your iPhone is asleep when their text message comes in, then when you wake it, you’ll see their message on the Lock screen.
