Most airlines won’t let you have your iPhone (or any other device that transmits) on during flight. But, you’ll probably want to do other stuff with it while in the air, so Apple included Airplane mode. While in this mode, the phone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth transceivers, and GPS reception are turned off. To switch to Airplane mode, tap on the Settings app, and then tap on the word OFF next to Airplane Mode at the top to turn it on.
