Using the Compass

The iPhone comes with a built-in compass that is not just an app, but a real compass. From your Home screen, tap on the Utilities folder, then tap Compass and you’ll be able to rotate your iPhone to see which direction you’re headed in. If you tap the little “i” in the lower-right corner, you can toggle between Magnetic North and True North. This Compass feature also works in the Maps app to show you the direction you’re headed in, if you have Location Services turned on.
