iOS 5 includes a dedicated Reminders app, like a built-in to-do list. In the Reminders app, you can create new reminders by tapping the + (plus sign) button in the top-right corner. Then, just type your reminder and tap Done. Simple reminders will appear in your list with an empty checkbox by them. Once you complete the task, just tap the box to add a checkmark to it. If you want reminders that actually remind you to do something, tap on the reminder in the list, then tap on Remind Me.
