As an example, Table 3 shows the leakage associated with an 8mm (closed) tube
placed between the facemask and the skin. The leakage for the Prototype was
substantially lower than the leakage observed for the standard facemask. This
illustrates that the skirt of the Prototype mask was able to “hug” the tube more
closely than the standard facemask pad.
4 CONCLUSIONS
The controlled laboratory tests showed that the Prototype facemask including the
pressure-inflating “skirt” feature exhibited performance characteristics comparable
to those of a standard high-quality facemask product. However, the study also
