Daily Accountability Process
A daily accountability process is the third principal element of the Lean
management system. It provides the steering wheel, directing which improve-
ments will be worked on. The accountability meeting leader makes task
assignments first to understand the cause of a problem captured on a visual
control, then to eliminate the causes. The accountability process also provides
the throttle for improvement, the due date, and resources for the improvement
tasks. This chapter shows how to implement daily accountability through
daily meetings and visual controls, with case studies to guide the way.
