By comparison, when considering daily pitch attainment percentage, the
time period in question is usually a shift, which batches the pitch-by-pitch
results. This is the same effect as reporting an average for the shift rather
than showing an hour-by-hour or pitch-by-pitch performance profile.
Inother words, this kind of reporting, even though based on frequent
measurement, has the effect of lumping the data points together, smooth-
ing over problems and making it more difficult to see them clearly. As with
any other example of batching, process problems are hidden in the batch.
