We have learnt in Chapter 13 that a memory stores the look-up tables for the bits or bytes
at the outputs for each of the inputs, called address inputs. A ROM with 10 address input
lines has 2

addresses and each address there are 8 bits in a 1 k ´ 8 ROM (1 k = 1024 for
the purpose of memory space representation). Also a complex combinational circuit can
be easily assembled by the programmable logic memories (ROM, EPROM, EEPROM or
Flash or OTP). ROM is non-volatile memory (retains the bits even after power-off).
We will learn an important form of semiconductor memory called RAM in this chapter.
