It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The Green-Light Path in Hollywood
During another interview, a different producer related an interesting green-light story. James Cameron, the much-heralded producer-director of Titanic, is working on his next picture, a sci-fi action thriller titled Avatar. It’s a big-budget space epic being backed by 20th Century Fox. The interesting part is that Avatar got the green light even when all of the major players acknowledged that the picture was currently impossible to make. At the time, the special effects demanded by the storyline could not be convincingly generated.
