Summary
We’ve now looked at 18 practices that Hollywood uses as part of its motion picture production process. We’ve seen how each has proved to be effective in reaching a production’s goals for schedule, budget, and scope compliance. We’ve also seen how IT professionals can take these practices and with a little modification apply them in their specific project domains to achieve similar results. A look at standards and methods like the PMI’s PMBOK, the SEI’s CMMI, ISO 9001:2000, and Agile clearly shows these practices in place and highly recommended. Perhaps as more and more shops become familiar with these standards and methods, project performance will be enhanced throughout the industry.
