Random Selection
One way to randomly select is to assign each employee in the population a number. Use consecutive numbers. Then use a published table of random numbers to select by number which employees should participate. (Random number tables are included in many statistics books.) Just be sure the table you use includes all the numbers you assigned.
Another method is to write each employee's name on a separate piece of paper, mix them, and then draw the number of names required. This approach can also be done with numbers rather than names.
A third method is to obtain a list of employees. Then select in a systematic fashion the number of names required. For example, assume you have one hundred employees and you want a sample of twenty. All ...
