Using Comparisons
In Chapter 3, the concept of management by exception was introduced as it applies to comparisons with previous surveys. You may not know what the ideal percentage of positive responses should be, but you can identify changes in the percentages—the exceptions.
Let's assume that 30 percent of your employees perceive the company's compensation program to be very good, and 30 percent of your employees perceive it as requiring improvement. What does that signify? Is it good or bad? Does the program require improvement, or is it doing fine?
