As we've already said, this book is focused on the uneasy gap between development and administration. If you are the person who stays late at work trying to get the application builds installed or the person whom everyone expects to magically figure out how to configure WAS to make the application run smoothly, this book is for you. We've been there.
By necessity, since this book focuses so much on administration, we will assume you are familiar with WAS administration. If you are not, read and understand [Williamson 2004] or the equivalent first. While this book is not intended for developers, by necessity, you must be familiar with J2EE packaging and the basics of WAS development.
