In this chapter, we provided a more thorough explanation of CMP Entity Beans. We illustrated the WAS Persistence Manager and the services that it provides. We also illustrated the various caching options for EJBs. Specifically, we showed that WAS caches both at the bean level and the underlying ResultSet level. In addition to caching, we illustrated how WAS uses access intents and application profiling to allow Entity Bean implementation to optimize database access. Finally, as in previous chapters, we provided an automated example of deployment.
