Exercises/Sample Training Program

These exercises can be used to stimulate discussion in organizations consid-

ering an assessment, or as part of a training program.

1. You are the director of Child Services in a large human services agency,

and you believe that an assessment process would be helpful in

improving the way that the agency as a whole operates. You raise the

issue with the newly appointed head of the agency. He doesn’t reject

the idea, but it clearly isn’t high on his list of priorities. You feel strongly

that it would help your area, in particular, as well as the rest of the
