What about the clothing market? Clothing is plumage. We use clothing to attract the opposite sex, so it would follow that the clothing market is very dependent on the number of people looking for mates. I am not talking about Boomers’ second and third marriages. Historically, in the United States we look for mates when we are between the ages of twenty-four and about thirty-four. Generation X still has a firm hold on this demographic landscape, but get ready: Generation Y is closing in fast. When Generation Y begins to fill the clothes-buying sweet spot, clothing sales are going to soar. I really do mean soar.
