I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Avoiding Disaster
In conclusion, if you can understand the principles of shifting demography, you can forecast with uncanny accuracy what markets are growing and what markets are slowing. I really don’t understand why more captains of industry and commerce don’t use this data. Maybe it’s because it would require them to think beyond the next quarterly report. Frankly, I am concerned that most businesses in the United States are operating without a plan. This is an invitation to disaster.
In addition, a lot of businesses simply do not want to hear bad news even if it can save them from derailing. I once received a call from a woman who was writing a story for an assisted-living association newsletter. She interviewed me for about ten minutes ...
