Getting Out the Door
The hardest part of any walk is the first step. Our minds play tricks on us as we lead up to any kind of exercise, and we often find excuses for not following through. But once we have a foot out the door, there is almost no turning back. The following tips will help you win at those mind games.
- Prepare
-
Do every thing you can to prepare for your walk hours in advance. This will reduce the number of barriers your mind can erect when creating excuses. If you like walking in the morning, try laying out your clothes the night before. Put a reminder on your calendar. Plan the route you’ll take when you walk. The fewer obstacles you have leading up to exercise, the more likely you are to follow through with it.
