Restricting Movement with Braces

If neither the exercises described earlier nor the Alexander Technique have helped rid you of wrist pain, then you might be a good candidate for wrist braces.

Braces should not be your first line of defense against wrist pain. Most doctors will recommend exercise before orthotics.[117] If you’ve jumped to this section in the hopes of a quick fix, then back up.

Braces are an effective treatment for wrist pain,[118] but they do have one drawback. Immobilizing the wrist will eventually weaken the muscles around the joint, which could lead to worse pain when not using the brace. In some sense, your body may become addicted to the brace.
