An epigraph is a short saying, quotation, or summary placed at the beginning of a book, chapter, or presentation. One might include an epigraph to expose an inspiration, to set the tone or theme of a story, to help an audience become prepared for what is to come. I insert epigraphs, typically in the form of a quote, as an expository element breathing life into my story or design.
