For every design narrative I craft, I curate a distinct lexicon. This is an upmarket way of saying a list of words that best describe a design and are relatable to my audience.
Consider the humble sandwich. It might be referred to as a sub—unless you are from Philadelphia, where it is a hoagie. In New York, it would be a hero, a grinder in New England, a torta in Mexico, or a panini in Italy. Despite these regional nuances, each term conjures the same culinary image. Yet, when woven into a narrative, the choice of lexicon can drastically alter its essence and impact.
